Advancement Co-Chair; Fundraising mailto:cheney.45@osu.edu 1. What is your title and in what department do you work? I am the Director of Graduate Student Professional Success at the ASC Center for Career and Professional Success 2. What do you like most about working at Ohio State? I love the intellectual life of institutions of higher learning. I worked outside of higher education for several years and returning to Ohio State reminded me that there is little to match the vibrancy of a university - especially a frontrunner like Ohio State. 3. How has ASFW helped your career development? The opportunity to connect with and learn from the ASFW community has been invigorating. Without question, the professional development opportunities help me sharpen and diversify my toolkit, but it is the generous and supportive community that really sets ASFW apart. During our events, I regularly learn about new facets of the institution and discover unseen connections or opportunities between seemingly unrelated offices or roles. This kind of organizational awareness can take years to develop. I certainly have a way to go, but ASFW has accelerated that process for me. 4. I'm happiest when... I read a book that challenges/inspires me to such a degree that I continue thinking about it for weeks and months after and (maybe too?) enthusiastically recommend it to my colleagues and peers. The last book that sparked that type of response was "The Great Upheaval" by Arthur Levine and Scott Van Pelt. |
